ROBERTSON’S MEAT GOATS
At Robertson’s Meat Goats, our mission is to raise top quality, commercial and registered-fullblood Savanna seedstock.
Background of Savanna Goat
The Savanna breed was discovered in South Africa in 1955. At the time, breeders valued characteristics that would ensure a profitable animal under tough conditions and minimal inputs. The breeding of the Savanna goats would begin 1957 with the Cilliers family. Lubbe Cillliers developed hardy, fertile, heat and parasite tolerant efficient meat goats by allowing natural selection to work on the herd in the unfavorable conditions of the veld. Through these contributions, the Savanna industry has continued to grow overtime and looks to be head in the right direction.
